Burt Kimmelman

Burt Kimmelman

Burt Kimmelman is a Jewish-American poet and scholar most noted for his astute criticism of modern and postmodern American poetry and the development of the poetics of authorship in medieval Europe. He is a celebrated poet within the tradition of William Carlos Williams.

He received his PhD in English Literature from the City University of New York; a certificate in interdisciplinary medieval studies from the City University of New York; an MA in English Literature from Hunter College, City University of New York; and a BA in English Literature from the State University of New York, College at Cortland.

He currently teaches at the New Jersey Institute of Technology located in Newark, New Jersey, where he is a Professor of English and Chair of the Department of Humanities.
