It is located just south of Parma. It is the home of Parmalat and Parma F.C.'s training complex, Centro Sportivo Parma Calcio.
On April 27, 1945, the town was liberated from German Nazi forces by Brazilian forces. Approximately 400 Germans were captured by the Brazilians after two days of battle.[citation needed]
