Ken Ritchie (born 1946) is a British psephologist, and the current
Chief Executive of theElectoral Reform Society .Born in
Glasgow ,Scotland , he graduated from theUniversity of Edinburgh with a degree in mathematics before spending 18 months teaching inTanzania . After that he returned to Britain to complete aPhD on the policies and decision-making methods of voluntary organisations inAfrica .He has held a number of senior positions on developmental charities, including Head of International Service for the UK United Nations Association; Executive Director of the health care charity
Health Link International ; Deputy Director of the British Refugee Council, Chairperson of theLondon Friends of Palestine and UK Director of theIntermediate Technology Development Group . He also served on the boards of various organizations includingWar on Want , Oxfam UK, theCouncil for the Advancement of Arab-British Understanding and theWestern Sahara Campaign (of which he has been Treasurer for the past 20 years).He has been Chief Executive of the Electoral Reform Society since 1997, and also sits on the Board of Directors for
Fair Vote . He has stood for parliament three times as a Labour candidate, inBeckenham in1987 and1992 , and in Daventry in1997 .In
2006 , he became a Fellow of theRoyal Society of Arts .External links
