Cheeburger Cheeburger is a 1950s-style burger restaurant chain that started on Sanibel Island, Florida, United States, in 1986. They specialize in cheeseburgers, french fries, onion rings, and milkshakes.

There are 64 locations across the United States. Cheeburger Cheeburger was featured in the June 2008 issue of San Diego Magazine [1]. Also, their first international chain opened in Kuwait.

Cheeburger Cheeburger's menus claim it to be famous for its "Pounder" burger, which is 20 ounces of beef before cooking. Anyone who finishes the entire burger can have their picture taken holding a stuffed fabric "Pounder" and hung on that restaurant's Wall of Fame. There is also a Wall of Fame for children, where children under 12 years old may appear if they eat a half-pound burger.

The restaurant's name likely comes from a series of early Saturday Night Live sketches (see Olympia Cafe) inspired by Chicago's Billy Goat Tavern. In addition, Cheeburger Cheeburger locations have signs reading "Pepsi-Pepsi! No Coke!" These signs were inspired by the "No fries! Chips!" and "No Coke! Pepsi!" lines from the SNL sketches.

When Cheeburger Cheeburger opened a restaurant in Glenview, Illinois, they were sued by Billy Goat Tavern, which had served as the inspiration for the original Saturday Night Live parody. An out-of-court settlement was reached wherein the restaurant changed the name of the Glenview location to simply Cheeburger and agreed not to open another restaurant within 125 miles of downtown Chicago.[1][2]

Food information

Photos on the Wall of Fame are transferred to scrap books when the Wall is filled. This photo was taken at the now-shuttered Palisades Center Mall location in West Nyack, NY.

The burgers are made from Angus beef and come in about 4-5 different sizes: Usually including the kid burger, classic, semi serious, serious, delirious, and pounder.

There are over one million milkshake flavors which can be mixed to a customer's liking to make a unique shake. There are also special shakes for the holiday season such as Mom's Apple Pie, Hot Chocolate, and Egg Nog.
