The PLC

The PLC

The Posh Leeds Contingent (PLC) is a supporters group of Football League Two side Peterborough United. They are by far the smallest of the four supporters groups for the Posh and have sponsored Posh player Chris Plummer for the 2006-07 season.

History

The PLC began in early 2004. Four Peterborough United fans based in Leeds contacted each other and decided to meet up to journey to watch the Posh play away at Sheffield Wednesday. The four were united by a common love for the Posh, beer, and enjoying themselves. From then on they encountered other like-minded Posh fans, based throughout the north in towns and cities such as Durham, Sheffield, Chester, Liverpool, Huddersfield and of course back home in Peterborough. The PLC are the fastest growing Posh supporters association, purely on the obvious basis that anything that starts from almost nothing grows exponentially faster than something which is well established, and include members from the age of 4 up to pensioners. They have a unique supporting style, being renowned for their use of big banners [cite web | title= Example of banners on display at a match | url=http://www.theposh.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Match/FirstTeamReport/0,,10427~30176,00.html] .

Ethos

The PLC also undertook to get their own 'uniform', adopting Posh's black away shirt. Almost all PLC members possess this shirt with PLC and their relevant membership number emblazoned on their backs. The overriding goal of the PLC is to make supporting Posh fun, to enjoy the camaraderie of the day out, obviously support the team and usually consume large quantities of alcohol, a philosophy its members live their lives by. They are now only the PLC in name, as although some are still based in Leeds, other members are dotted around the country, and even in Australia and Canada. Over the past season the PLC have beciome involved in various other aspects of the Posh community. Assisting other supporters groups in charity days, appearing for the first time as a football team, and they have also undertaken the running of the only Posh fanzine, Blue Moon a cynical, sarcastic, cutting and insightful piece of fan produced football journalism.
