- Henrik Bródy
Heinrich Brody or Bródy Henrik (b.
May 21 ,1868 , -d. 1942) was a Hungarian-Czechoslovakian rabbi. He born inUngvár , historic part ofAustria-Hungary , now part ofUkraine .He was a descendant of
Abraham Broda . Educated in the public schools of his native town, and at the rabbinical colleges ofTolcsva andPozsony , Hungary, Brody also studied at theHildesheimer Theological Seminary and at theUniversity of Berlin , being an enthusiastic scholar of theHebrew language and literature.He was for some time secretary of the literary society "
Mekiẓe Nirdamim ", and in 1896 founded the "Zeitschrift für Hebräische Bibliographie ", of which he is coeditor withA. Freiman .Brody was
rabbi of the congregation ofNáchod ,Bohemia and chief rabbi ofPrague before moving toPalestine . In Czechoslovakia, he was the leader of theMizrachi movement.Literary works
