The Penang State Symphony Orchestra and Chorus (PESSOC) is an amateur orchestra and choral group funded by the state of Penang, Malaysia, with a wide-ranging repertoire that emphasizes Western classical music.
The resident conductor is Austrian-trained Japanese, Jascha Shimano, while the choral conductor is Australian and German-trained Malaysian, Ms Khoo Hooi Lay. PESSOC has a total membership of about 140 and holds regular concerts throughout the year. The choir element has a current strength of 35.
