Hilton High School is part of the 4,450-student Hilton Central School District, a public school system based in Hilton, a suburb of Rochester, New York. Hilton High School offers an International Baccalaureate Diploma and the school has made Newsweek's top 1,200 schools in the United States each year since, ranking at number 989 in 2005. Hilton's Quest Elementary School, 400 pupils, is an authorized International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program. Hilton School District is headed by Superintendent of Schools David Dimbleby who was formerly principal of Hilton High School.

Achievements

Hilton Schools have a long history of achievement graduating the first Regents Diploma student, Miss Jennie Mitchell, in 1899. More than 20 one-room schoolhouses and the "Henry Street School" were centralized in 1949. In 2008 the Hilton School District's Music Program was named " [http://www.hilton.k12.ny.us/nammhonors08.htm One of the Best Communities for Music Education in the Nation] " by the NAMM Foundation.

Superintendents have brought many innovations and sweeping facility upgrades to the District's five schools and transportation facility including a $60 million capital project in 2001-05. Students have excelled - a significant number accepted to US military academies. Over 90% of graduates go on to further education.

In March 2005, Hilton added, as a part of their Capital Bond Project, an Aquatic Center at Merton Williams Middle School, thus replacing the old five- lane pool. This eight- lane pool with an attached diving well and two diving boards includes bleachers for 240 spectators, and an electronic scoreboard. Local swim teams practice and swim in this pool, groups such as H.A.S.T (Hilton Area Swim Team) and also the Girl's and Boy's Modified, Junior Varsity, and Varsity teams.

On the outskirts of the high school's fields the Capital Bond Project created a Ropes and Cimbing Wall Challenge Course.

Football has been a mainstay for Hilton Central High School drawing thousands of fans to LeBeau field on Friday nights.

In 2005, the Hilton Girl's Cross Country Team won the 2005 Nike Team Nationals Race, making them the number one girls cross country team in the nation. In 2006, Allison Sawyer and Caroline Shultz advanced to the Foot Locker National Championship meet in San Diego, putting them in contention with the top 40 girls cross country runners in the entire United States.

Musically, the high school has produced many musicians who have gone on to recording contracts and positions in orchestras and choir groups. Instrumentally, the school places students in marching band, concert band, jazz band and wind ensemble. Additionally, the school's Winter Drum Line group has won the NYS competition 10 times in a row, and placed in the finals at the WGI national competition. Vocally, students participate in da Capo singers, men's chorus, women's chorus, and chorale. In May 2007, the Marching Band, high school Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Women's Chorus, and Chorale all participated in an adjudication in Williamsburg, Virginia where the Wind Ensemble, Women's Chorus, and Chorale each swept the floor earning nearly every plaque and trophy that was awarded. Among the awards these three groups some of the awards they received were: the Highest Score within their group, highest overall score, and many others. Approximately 200 students went on this trip to Williamsburg (Virginia Beach) including students from both the middle school, Merton Williams, and the high school. Each year the high school performs a musical recent numbers have included, "Joesph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat", "42nd Street", "Secret Garden", and "Footloose".

The Hilton School District is a "School System for the 21st Century" where schools maximize the potential of individual learners in a process of continual improvement. Through the District Improvement Team and many other communication avenues, the Hilton School District strives to act in concert with its mission to provide for each student's success academically, physically, emotionally, and socially so that they become self-directed, life-long learners who think critically and creatively and function as caring, responsible, productive citizens. This district clearly is dedicated to success with A.P and Honors courses, the I.B program and courses at Quest Elementary and the high school, Honor Society,
