25 September 1983 inMaryport ) is an English football player who plays as astriker forLeague One side Brighton.Biography
A player who played for non league side Workington Reds before joining American side
Wilmington Hammerheads . After his time in America he joined Barrow where he scored 9 goals in 9 games before joining the then Conference side Carlisle United and was part of the Conference play off winning team and League Two winning side.Murray joined Stockport on loan for 2 months and he returned to Carlisle after this loan deal, following team-mate
Karl Hawley 's rib injury. Rochdale managerSteve Parkin then signed Murray on loan until January 2007. Murray then signed for Rochdale on a contract until 2009, for an undisclosed fee.Murray had been linked with a transfer to
League One team Brighton & Hove Albion through-out the January transfer-window, and finally completed his move to the Withdean on the25 January 2008 for a reported£ 300,000. 2 February 2008 |publisher=Seagulls.co.uk]Murray scored 9 goals in the 2007-8 season, but struggled to win over a section of Brighton's notoriously fickle fan base, who seemed to expect more from the club's biggest signing in 25 years. After a slow start to the 2008-9 season, in which he was sent off in a 4-0 victory against Barnet, Murray came to the fore with a sterling performance against the world's richest club, Manchester City and scored an equaliser late in the game and then took one of the penalties that knocked City out of the League Cup. Murray continued his renaissance with five more goals in the next two matches, including his first hat-trick, against Cheltenham Town. He still, in the eyes of some of the more short sighted and ignorant fans, lacks what it takes to be an asset for the club, despite 35 goals in his last 71 games.
