suburb of thetown ofPontypool inTorfaen , south eastWales , within the historic boundaries of Monmouthshire. It is directly below Pontypool and is bordered by
Griffithstown andNew Inn to the south. It is all but merged with the nearbysuburb s ofCwmynyscoy and Upper Race.It contains a mixture of traditional Welsh terraced houses, early
Edwardian townhouses and modern 1960s flats and local authority housing.Pontymoile is spread across a large area and so is home to much of Pontypool's facilities including
West Monmouth School ,Coleg Gwent 's Pontypool campus, thePontymoile Basin on theMonmouthshire & Brecon Canal as well as St. Matthew'sAnglican Church and the nondenominational Pontymoile Christian Mission on Rockhill Road. Pontymoile has its ownprimary school as well as a small selection of shops andpublic house s.Redevelopment
The area was subject to massive redevelopment in the late 1990s when a new
flyover on theA472 road was constructed to divert traffic from what had become a 'bottle-neck' road system in Pontypool. This resulted in many buildings being demolished (including the original Pontymoile Mission). The development also resulted in a new road system toWest Monmouth School andColeg Gwent 's Pontypool campus.External links
