- Gamorrean
A Gamorrean is a large pig-like creature from the fictional "
Star Wars " series. [Andy Mangels, "Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Characters" (Ballantine Books, 1995), 66.] The creatures are of little intelligence and are often hired as guards, mostly byJabba the Hutt , [Don Bies, Nelson Hall, Alexander Ivanov, and David West Reynolds, "Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary" (DK Pub., 1998), 47.] who was fond of hiring them because they were so inexpensive. On their home planet, Gamorreans exist in a sort of tribal political system dominated by the female sows.Fact|date=February 2007Physical Characteristics
Physically, Gamorreans appear in "" as greenish, slimy (and apparently smelly)
pig -like creatures. They are about 1.8 meters tall and weigh about 100 kilograms. Underneath their pig-like snouts, protruding from jowled cheeks are yellowed tusks. These complement the small, yellow horns the Gamorreans have growing from the top of their heads. Jabba the Hutt was known to use dim-witted Gamorreans as enforcers and bodyguards. They can be best described closest to pigs with their mouths and grunting kind of language. [Eric Cagle, Michael Mikaelian, Steve Miller, and Owen K. C. Stephens, "Ultimate Alien Anthology: Ultimate Alien Anthology" (Wizards of the Coast, 2003), [http://books.google.com/books?id=WlZQdonLQ6YC&q=Gamorrean+Voort&dq=Gamorrean+Voort&ei=wX6jSN3hD4ryiwGP67H7BA&pgis=1 6] .] They are stocky and muscular, making them excellent melee/hand to hand fighters. They wear little clothing, consisting usually of a loincloth and primitive armor. Because of their physical characteristics and low intelligence, Gamorreans away from their home planet are usually employed asmercenary fighters, guards, or heavy laborers. One notable exception to this was theWraith Squadron pilot Voort "Piggy" saBinring, who was biochemically altered by the Binring Corporation to bring his attention span and intelligence to exceed normal human levels.Fact|date=February 2007Most do not like to use blasters, instead preferring to use hand-to-hand weapons such as clubs and axes and are quite fond of vibro-blades and vibro-axes. They appear in as NPCs as a result of a downloadable map,
Jabba's Palace . They are also featured in "", where these vibro weapons are utilized to great effect. One hit will kill even a hero unit, or at least wear down the hero's health a significant amount (the blow will also knock them to their knees, sometimes allowing the Gamorrean enough time to get in a second blow).A gang of Gamorrean slavers appear in "", along with a small group of hunters who prey on foolish travelers in the Dune Sea.
Gamorreans also appear in "" in Jabba's Palace. When you build a
radio (which plays a rock and roll version of the Imperial theme), the Gamorreans present at that time will flip theiraxe s around and play them likeguitar s. At theMos Eisley Cantina , you can buy a Gamorrean and play as it.References
