- Arsinoe
Arsinoe (Greek: polytonic|Ἀρσινόη), sometimes spelled Arsinoë, may refer to different things:Arsinoe (Ἀρσινόης) may mean 'new fire' from Indo-European 'as-', 'to burn, glow' and 'newo' 'new, young, fresh'. Thus 'Arsinoe' seems more like 'arson' than 'arsenic'. But this is just a conjecture waiting to be verified. This name seems consistent with the myth of Arsinoe, daughter of Phegeus, but may not be applicable to others with the same name, especially the queens of Egypt.
