Hugh Ward (ca. 1590-1635) argued the fact that Rumbold had been born inIreland – he is also said to have been a Bishop of Dublin, and that he was the son of a Scottish king.St. Rumbolds Cathedral in Mechelen has at its high altar an elaborate golden shrine, containingrelics attributed to the saint, and it is rumored that his remains are buried inside the cathedral.
