- Harold Thimbleby
Prof Harold Thimbleby was born on 19th July 1955 and is a
computer scientist who works inuser interface design , particularly taking a computing point of view. He won theBritish Computer Society Wilkes Medal for his work inliterate programming .He is Professor of Computer Science at Swansea University, Wales, where he founded the Future Interaction Technology Lab [http://www.fitlab.eu] . He was 28th Professor of Geometry at
Gresham College , London and does much work to assist the public understanding of science [http://www.cs.swan.ac.uk/~csharold/index.php?7] .He and his son Will Thimbleby [http://will.thimbleby.net/research/] have developed and implemented an interactive calculator, that uses handwriting recognition and morphing [http://www.cs.swan.ac.uk/calculators/] . This was exhibited in 2005 at the
Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition; it will next be exhibited at the 2006Eisteddfod .elected works
