Sir David Lincoln Lightbown (30 November 1932 – 12 December 1995) was the Conservative Member of Parliament for South East Staffordshire from 1983 until he died in office in 1995 (he suffered a heart attack while watching a rugby match). The resulting by-election for his seat was won by the Labour Party candidate Brian Jenkins.
He was well-known during his time in Parliament as a government whip with a robust attitude towards ensuring Conservative MPs were voting as the government wished.he also took his turn as the hostage durein an opening of parliament. However he is perhaps best remembered for the marstrict treaty vote where after encouraging several of his colleges to enter the yea lobby frogot to enter it himself
