Tinashe Washington Nengomasha (born 2 September, 1982 in Harare) is a Zimbabwean football (soccer) midfielder who plays for Kaizer Chiefs and Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwean National Team

He was a member of the Zimbabwean 2004 African Nations Cup team, who finished bottom of their group in the first round of competition, thus failing to secure qualification for the quarter-finals. He also participated at the 2006 African Nations Cup, with the same outcome.

Kaizer Chiefs

A virtually unknown quantity when he joined Chiefs during the 2002-2003 season, Tinashe was dubbed by some news papers as a foreign flop, while his friend and country man Kelvin Mushangazikhe who came with his from Zimbabwe to Chiefs found the going tough and left Tinashe’s fortunes were very different.

He quickly won the admiration of the Chiefs fans hearts and was nicknamed the general, for his ability to marshal the midfield and not allow any one to penetrate the Chiefs back line.

2003/04 Season

Tinashe played a big hand in guiding Chiefs to the PSL title during the 2003-2004 season and was rewarded for his part in Chiefs title charge as he was named the PSL’s players player and more importantly player of the year for that season.

Although he has only found two goals for Chiefs in close on to two hundred games, he does have the ability to find the space for the front men to exploit and find the goals they looking for.

Downward Spiral

Many had thought that the general had lost his way after failing to do what he did in previous seasons, as he had two average seasons by his standard in 2005-2006 and 2006-2007.

2007/08 Season

He has come back stronger than ever in the 2007-2008 season and has found a new lease on life, with the return to the Chiefs helm of Muhsin Ertugral the coach who gave him his debut at the Amakhosi during the 2001 – 2002 season. His return to form has been demonstrated by the fact that he is the only Chiefs player in the 2007 – 2008 season to have played each league and cup game this season.
