Paul Yule

Paul Harris Yule (born 22 June 1956) is a South African-born [ [http://hollywoodbitchslap.com/feature.php?feature=1972 VIFF ’06 Interview – The Photographer, His Wife, Her Lover director Paul Yule] ] British documentary film maker.

Before moving into film and television Yule was a photojournalist and, as well as contributing to numerous newspapers and magazines, published a book of photographs on Peru, "The New Incas" (New Pyramid Press, 1983).

As a film director he has specialised in making controversial documentaries, often on political themes, several of which have won awards (International Emmy [Damned In The USA - Berwick Universal Pictures 1990] , Royal Television Society [a) The House of War, Berwick Universal Pictures 2002 and b) Not Cricket - The Basil D'Oliveira Conspiracy 2004] , Edward Morrow Prize [The House of War, 2002] , amongst others). His films have dealt with subjects ranging from censorship in the United States to Peruvian photography - from the war in Chechnya to gay bashing in Texas to suicide cults - from cricket and racism in South Africa to the Marquis de Sade, Bruce Chatwin and the historiography of the second world war.

He lives in London.
