Paul Alan Yule is an archaeologist at the
University of Heidelberg . He studied atUniversity of Minnesota ,New York University andMarburg University . His main focuses are thearchaeology ofArabia and that ofIndia . A major contribution to the prehistory ofOman deals with the tower tombs of Jaylah on theJebel Akhdar , which date to the 3rd millennium BCE.The site of
Samad al-Shan sheds light on the transition to [Islam] inOman . It also differentiates the different kinds of eastern Arabian artefacts by period. The site ofZafar , capital ofHimyar , in theYemen , illuminates especially on the culture of theHimyarite empire and its late period. The metal hoard find fromIbri -Selme, is the largest to occur in the Near East. It contains finds largely of theEarly Iron Age .In
India , he documented archaeological sites for the first time, especially inOrissa . The so-calledCopper Hoard Culture of India were documented for the first time. These numerous copper artefacts appear to be non-functional objects, probably used in ritual functions. A find fromSankarjang may be the earliest musical instrument in India.Publications
