["Thor" #349 - 353 (Nov. 1984 - Mar. 1985)] After a long absence Odin returns to Asgard, and it is revealed that he absorbed Surtur's essence, which eventually takes him over. Surtur manages to recreate his physical form and destroys much of Asgard until Thor, wielding the Odin Power, banishes Surtur to the Sea of Eternal Night. ["Stormbreaker: The Saga of Beta Ray Bill" #1 - 6 (2005)] When Thor returns from a period of self-induced hibernation, Thor enters the Odinsleep and finds Odin in a limbo between life and death, where Surtur stored a portion of his essence to prevent himself from being killed forever. Odin and Surtur now battle and die every day, only to be reborn and repeat the cycle. ["Thor" #7 - 8 (March - April 2008)]Powers and abilities
