Grabbag

Grabbag

"Grabbag" is the title of the theme song from Duke Nukem 3D, a 1996 first-person shooter computer game. It has been used in every Duke Nukem game since. Thus, it has become recognized and adopted as Duke Nukem's official theme song.

The original version of the song, authored by Lee Jackson (not to be confused with the bassist named Lee Jackson), can be downloaded as an MP3 from the 3D Realms website. [http://www.3drealms.com/duke3d/] The song is also on the "Atomic Edition" CD-ROM as an audio track, which can be accessed by placing the CD in an audio CD player and skipping to Track 2.

Several remixes of the song have been made, the most famous being by the American metal band Megadeth.

Lee Jackson has stated that the title of the song came from his method of making it: by reaching into the figurative of metal and heavy metal music he listened to (i.e., Black Sabbath, Metallica) and pulling various elements out. [http://www.planetduke.com/duke4/faq/appendix1.shtml]
