Amtrak serves the Tucson Southern Pacific depot three times a week with the Sunset Limited and Texas Eagle.

The station was built in 1907 by the El Paso and Southwestern Railroad. In 1998, the City purchased the entire depot property. Restoration of the main depot building and the three adjacent buildings to their 1941 architectural style was completed in 2004. Old Pueblo Trolley plans to extend their historic streetcar line to the Depot by 2009. In FY07, Tucson was the second-busiest Amtrak station in Arizona, based on reported passenger traffic.

The Southern Arizona Transportation Museum is located in the old Records Vault building.
