Alison Walker

Alison Walker

Alison Walker (born in 1961) in Hamilton, Scotland is a Scottish broadcaster.

Born into a football-mad family with three brothers, Alison always wanted to work in the media and/or in sport and, to that end, took a degree in media and communication studies at the University of Sunderland.

On graduating her first job was as a 'runner' for a film production company in Glasgow, eventually becoming their producer of corporate and training videos.

In 1985 she was recruited by Glasgow CableVision as a Production Assistant and within a year was presenting the local news channel. In 1988 she joined BBC Radio Scotland as a reporter/presenter, moving on to produce "Sportsound".

Her radio work has been combined with presentation and reporting roles for BBC Scotland television, with regular contributions to "Sportscene", and "Reporting Scotland".

She is the only female broadcaster in Scotland to regularly report on football matches. She has also presented programmes on curling, mountain biking, swimming, field hockey & shinty. The highlight of her career was reporting on the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000.

Alison has two sons and her hobbies include golf, tennis, rollerblading and skiing. She also supports Hamilton Academical F.C..
