Robert Bower "Buzz" Peterson, Jr. (born May 17, 1963) is currently an executive (Director of Player Personel) with the Charlotte Bobcats of the National Basketball Association (NBA). [cite news|title=More Members Added To Basketball Operations Staff|author=Charlotte Bobcats|publisher=Bobcats.com |date=2007-06-18 |url=http://www.nba.com/bobcats/bobcats_coaches_070618.html] Previously, he was the college Basketball head coach at Coastal Carolina. He also coached at Tulsa, Tennessee, and Appalachian State.

Peterson played basketball for Dean Smith at North Carolina where he was a roommate of Michael Jordan. He was a member of the Tar Heels team that won the 1982 national championship.

He was the head men's basketball coach at Appalachian State from 1996 to 2000, leading the Mountaineers to the Southern Conference Tournament Championship during the 1999–2000 season. During his single season at the Tulsa, 2000–2001, Peterson led the Golden Hurricane to their second NIT championship.
