Gladstone Pereira della Valentina or simply Gladstone (born January 29, 1985 in Vila Velha) is a Brazilian central defender, who currently plays for Palmeiras, on loan from Cruzeiro Esporte Clube.

Football career

Gladstone was loaned by Cruzeiro Esporte Clube to Juventus in summer 2005 and, after no appearances, was loaned again in Italy, this time to Hellas Verona, but Juventus chose not to activate the pre-set price of €7m, one of the reasons being the impending 2006 Serie A scandal. He subsequently returned to Cruzeiro, signing a new 3-year contract.

In 2007-08, he was loaned out again, this time to Sporting Clube de Portugal, where he rarely played because of Anderson Polga and Tonel.

International career

Gladstone was called-up to senior Brazil national football team as an injury replacement against Switzerland, on November 15, 2006, but did not debut.

On September 6, 2007, he was again called-up to the squad by national coach Dunga, for the games against Mexico and USA and is seen as a future Brazilian international.
