Urwah ibn Mas'ud

Urwah ibn Mas'ud ( _ar. أروة بن مسعود) was a Thaqif'i chieftain of Taif who became a companion of Muhammad. He was the first person from his tribe to accept Islam, and he was killed by his fellow chieftains while preaching Islam in his home city.

He was one of the notables of Arabia who entered the negotiations regarding the peace of Hudaybiyah on behalf of Quraysh.

He had a son named Dawud ibn Urwah, whom married Habibah binte Ubayd-Allah [http://forums.almaghrib.org/showpost.php?p=20600&postcount=4] .

In a hadith reported in Sahih Muslim mentions Muhammad (peace be upon him) saying that 'Isa (Jesus) (peace be upon him), resmbles Urwah ibn Mas'ud. [ [http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/fundamentals/hadithsunnah/muslim/041.smt.html#041.7023 Sahih Muslim Book 41, Hadith 7023] ]
