(1997)"The World According To Gessle" is a solo album by
Per Gessle , released on2 May 1997 . It was his first solo album in English. The title is of course a paraphrase of "The World According to Garp " - the novel byJohn Irving ."Do You Wanna Be My Baby?", "Kix" and "I Want You To Know" were released as singles. At the end of the "Lay Down Your Arms" track, there is another version of "Kix" (Cha-cha-cha version), sung like
Elvis Presley . The Japanese release of this album features the ballad "Love doesn't live here", a song previously recorded byBelinda Carlisle .Only three videos were made for this album. All of them were directed by the famous Swedish director
Jonas Akerlund .The album sold 400.000 copies worldwide.
The album was re-released in 2003 as a low budget edition in a cardboard sleeve to fight piracy.
"The World According to Gessle" was again re-released in May 2008 as an anniversary edition. This time it was a double CD, with 26 bonus tracks. CD2 is called "The Demos According to Gessle."
