Ralph Allwood

Ralph Allwood

Ralph Allwood (born 1950) is the Precentor and Director of Music at Eton College in the UK. He is a well-known conductor and has set up many musical events, not the least of which are the hugely successful Eton Choral Courses of which there are now six a year. He previously worked at the music department in Uppingham.

Allwood has implemented many changes to the Eton College Music Department since his arrival in 1985. He has introduced changes to the music lesson and scheduling system. One very important job is to select the Music Scholars and Exhibitioners for entry into the school in "F Block".

Allwood directs and runs the College Chapel Choir at Eton, and has been doing so since 1985. He is also the conductor of the Rodolfus Choir, which consists of choral singers aged 16-25 selected from the Eton Choral Courses.
