Margaret Skeete née Seward (October 27, 1878 – May 7, 1994) was an American supercentenarian and the oldest living American from 1993 to 1994. Skeete is the oldest person ever from Texas. She was 115 years 192 days old at the time of her death, and is the 15th oldest person ever as of October 2008. She was born in Rockport, Texas and died in Radford, Virginia.
Skeete is recorded in the 1880 Census as a 2-year-old.[1] She married Renn Skeete, and later moved on to Virginia.[2] During her supercentenarian years, she was in the 1993 Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest living American.[1] She died on May 7, 1994, at the age of 115, a few weeks after a serious fall.[1]
She was the last surviving person documented as born in 1878.[citation needed]
