"The Silent Partner" is a 1978 Canadian crime film directed by Daryl Duke. The film stars Elliott Gould as Miles Cullen, Christopher Plummer as Harry Reikle, and Susannah York as Julie Carver. "Silent Partner" was the first film produced by Carolco Pictures. The film was one of the first Canadian films to take advantage of the Canadian governments "Capital Cost Allowance" plans.

"The Silent Partner" is a remake of the Danish film "Think of a Number" ("Tænk på et tal") from 1969 written and directed by Palle Kjærulff-Schmidt. Both are based on the novel "Tænk på et tal" by Danish writer Anders Bodelsen.

Plot Synopsis

Miles Cullin (Elliott Gould is a teller in a bank. Cullin accidentally learns the scheme of a robbery planned by the mall Santa Claus (Christopher Plummer). Rather then getting in contact with the police Cullin pockets some of the money himself and thwarts Reikle. Reikle vicious thief comes after Gould to get the money back.

Reception

"The Silent Parter" did well financially in Canada both critically and financially winning several Canadian Film Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director.
