HMS "Trenchant" is a
Trafalgar class submarine built byVickers Shipbuilding ,Barrow-in-Furness .HMS "Trenchant" tested the non-hull-penetrating optronic mast in
1998 . She also trialled a camouflage paint scheme comprising jagged shapes of various colours including pale blue.HMS "Trenchant" is currently in service and is based at
HMNB Devonport .ON 21st June 2007 HMS Trenchant became the first
Royal Navy vessel to fire the new block IVTomahawk cruise missile in a live firing trial in theGulf of Mexico off the United States coast.See HMS "Trenchant" for other ships of the same name.
MFV Antares
On 22nd November 1990 the nets of the fishing vessel Antares were snagged by HMS Trenchant, the Antares was pulled under with the loss of all four members of the crew.
