Nine Network currently hold the rights to screen the U.S. version of "Survivor", after the failure of their2002 local "Survivor" project "Australian Survivor" the Seven Network found a loophole in their contract and obtained the rights to produce "Celebrity Survivor". [cite news

Vanuatu in the South Pacific. The series was filmed over twenty-five days, or three weeks, from late May to early June 2006, with promotional advertising beginning in July. From promos and footage shown on the Seven Network, it appeared that "Celebrity Survivor" borrowed many elements from the U.S. version's ninth season, "".The one-hour show was rated PG (parental guidance recommended) and aired during Thursday nights on the Seven Network. The executive producer of "Celebrity Survivor" is David Mason, who also produces other shows on the Seven Network, such as "

Before the series began, host Dickson and a select few of the "Celebrity Survivor" contestants appeared on the Seven Network's breakfast news show "Sunrise" to promote their series. This paralleled to what occurs in the U.S. version, with the show being promoted on "
The Early Show ", CBS' own breakfast news program and what happened during the Nine Network's "Australian Survivor" venture, with the series was featuring on the early morning show, "Today" and also on "A Current Affair ".Amber Petty and Nicolle Dickson also appeared in television commercials for
