Wo Hop is an Americanized Cantonese style Chinese food restaurant, located in Chinatown, New York City at the basement of 17 Mott Street, south of Canal Street and one block west of Chatham Square. Established in 1938, it is open 24/7. Though held in low esteem by Zagat (which bestowed a 16 for food and comparable ratings in other categories), Wo Hop has persevered amongst changing palates because of its longevity and old-Chinatown atmosphere, with natives and tourists alike braving interminably long lines for a seat. The Wo Hop at 17 Mott Street should not be confused with the Wo Hop at 15 Mott Street. Established in 1976 and situated at street level, this restaurant serves a similar menu and an additional selection of more authentic dishes geared towards Chinese and Chinese American customers.

Just ask the regulars what they think of Zagat's survey and they will tell you the truth. On a local Thursday night, you can find guys like Joey "Sanitation", Frankie "Rock", Tommy Kid or Doug "Cool Head" enjoying their Wonton soup, Dumplings and anything covered in Black Bean Sauce! There is zero atmosphere downstairs, but the last time I checked, you can't eat atmosphere!

This place is simply the best and you will leave not only full of food, but your wallet will still have money in it as well!
