Grimsby Town

Graham Rodger is a Scottish born former professional footballer and football manager. He was appointed manager of Grimsby Town on 5 June 2006, following the departure of Russell Slade, with Stuart Watkiss becoming his assistant. Rodger had previously been assistant to the three previous managers, including Slade, and had had a spell as caretaker manager. He was dismissed on 6 November 2006 after five months in charge with the club third from bottom of the Football League. Watkiss replaced him on a caretaker basis until the re-appointment of two times manager Alan Buckley. A few months later Rodger returned to the club as The Sport in The Community Officer, something what he had done between 2000 and 2002. Rodger has also been youth team manager, coach and assistant manager with Grimsby.

Playing career

The highpoint of Graham's playing days was his FA Cup win in 1987. Playing against the favourites Tottenham Hotspur, Coventry City secured a memorable extra-time victory. Graham featured as a substitute for the injured captain Brian Kilcline late in normal time, and played an important part in the winning goal [ [http://football.guardian.co.uk/FA_Cup/Story/0,,121412,00.html 1987 FA Cup Final] ] with a superb pass through several players to Lloyd McGrath which resulted in the goal seconds later. Graham was part of the historic 1997/1998 Grimsby Town Wembley Double winning team.
