If I Were You (novel)

"If I Were You" is the title of a novel by P.G. Wodehouse, first published in the United States on September 3 1931 by Doubleday Doran, New York, and in the U.K. on September 25 1931 by Herbert Jenkins, London.

The story concerns the romantic troubles of young Anthony Bryce, Earl of Droitwich.

Engaged to be married to Violet Waddington, heiress to 'Waddington's 97 Soups', Tony's life is thrown into chaos when his old nurse comes to pay him a visit, revealing a long-kept family secret. Tony departs for London with the resourceful Polly Brown, leaving the ancestral pad in the hands of the Socialist barber Syd Price.
