(1986)"Hit Factory" was a 1985
compilation album of songs byThe Monkees , released byPair Records and licensed fromArista Records . The album was available in bothLP record and cassette formats. The album sold surprisingly well the year following its release, with the reawakened interest in the Monkees stemming from the "Pleasant Valley Sunday "MTV marathon of their television series, in February 1986.Despite its title, the album did not include a full selection of
hit single s, instead featuring a few hits along withB-side s andalbum track s, including rarely-heard songs from the Monkees movie "Head" and their 1969 albums. While the track selection was a plus, the lesser-grade vinyl of the LP was a minus, as was the lack of any liner notes. The cover photo of the band was also printed flipped over, noticeable to any Monkees fan who'd seen other period photos.Track listing
