Stan Boardman (born 7 Dec 1940 in Liverpool, Merseyside, England) is an English comedian.

Biography

Stan Boardman ran a haulage firm before winning a holiday camp talent contest and breaking into television on "Opportunity Knocks" and "The Comedians".

He memorably courted controversy on a live edition of the Thames Television entertainment show, the "Des O'Connor Show" in the 1980s with a joke about the reminiscences of a British Second World War pilot which made great play on the word "Fokker", referring to the "German "Fokker"" aeroplanes. Some have claimed the outrage from this performance effectively ended his television career.

Boardman is also renowned for being used as a warm up on the Everton team bus during the late 1980s and early 1990s, although he himself is a Liverpool fan. In June 2006 he had a hit with "Stan's World Cup Song" which reached No 15 in the UK Singles Chart. He was a contestant in "Trust Me - I'm A Beauty Therapist" on Channel 5 in October 2006.

Family

He has twin children, and his daughter Andrea Boardman is a television presenter. His son Paul Boardman was a goalkeeper for Plymouth Argyle and is now a newsreader for Sky Sports News.
