- List of aircraft of the Royal Canadian Navy
This is a list of aircraft of the
Royal Canadian Navy . It also covers the period post-1968 when in theory all aircraft operations were transferred to the air section of the newly unifiedCanadian Armed Forces (nowCanadian Forces Maritime Command ).Prior to
World War II Canada did not operate any naval aircraft. TheRoyal Navy Air Service 's Royal Navy Canadian Air Service operated flying boats. DuringWorld War II ,Canada 's naval aircraft were carrier based aircraft inherited from theRoyal Navy 'sFleet Air Arm . From the end of war to the 1960s, the RCN operated both fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft. After the CF sold off their last carrier (HMCS Bonaventure ), Canada's navy only operated helicopters on their ships. The Tracker aircraft was stationed inland and performed maritime patrols.Fixed Wing
