The Municipality of Lac-Etchemin is a village of 3,800 people in the
Les Etchemins Regional County Municipality, Quebec , Canada and is part of theChaudière-Appalaches administrative region. It is the county seat of the RCM. Lac-Etchemin takes its name from theEtchemin Lake which is right in the centre of the village.Lac-Etchemin is the home of the

The area near the Etchemin Lake was first described in writing by the surveyor William Henderson in 1828. A few years later, in 1835, the region sees its first settler, Sir Randolph Routh, who buys convert|9000|acre|km2|0 of land.
Municipality of Lac-Etchemin was created in 2001 by the merger of the City of Lac-Etchemin and the Parish of Sainte-Germaine-du-Lac-Etchemin.
