Criticism

Some critics charge that Mr. Thurrott writes from an emotional position and lacks technical knowledge in the subjects he writes about (for example, not understanding that Vista's metadata search uses third-party plug-ins for unknown file formats). Bloggers Ed Bott [cite web | url=http://www.edbott.com/weblog/?p=1061 | title=Single-play DVDs? It’s a hoax | first=Ed | last=Bott | date=2005-10-04 | work=Ed Bott's Windows Expertise | accessdate=2008-05-01 ] and Robert McLaws [cite web | url=http://www.windows-now.com/blogs/robert/archive/2005/10/05/14781.aspx | | title=Journalistic Integrity Revisited | work=Robert McLaws: Windows Vista Edition | first=Robert | last=McLaws | date=2005-10-04 | publisher=Windows-Now.com | accessdate=2007-02-13 ] have chastised Thurrott for poor journalistic integrity. Mr. Thurrott was also [http://daringfireball.net/2006/08/jackass_paul_thurrott criticized] for a price comparison between a Mac Pro and Dell Precision workstation that had different specifications. He has also been heavily criticized for his rather biased reporting and reviews towards Apple Inc., Google, and their products.
