Black Swan Theatre Company
- Black Swan Theatre Company
Black Swan Theatre Company is Western Australia’s State Flagship Theatre Company. Since its inception in 1991, it has earned both critical and popular acclaim for its world premiere productions and highly distinctive (re)interpretations of international theatre classics – all of which are infused with a distinctively Western Australian flavour.
These have included such landmark productions as Bran Nue Dae, Sistergirl, Corrugation Road, The Merry-Go-Round in the Sea, Cloudstreet (Perth, Sydney, London and Dublin seasons) and Reg Cribb’s adaptation of Uncle Vanya.
Under the leadership of Artistic Director Tom Gutteridge, Black Swan has maintained a strong commitment to commissioning new work and in recent years has premiered exciting new plays such as Ian Wilding’s The Carnivores and Neil Gladwin’s Red Dog. Black Swan Theatre Company is the designated Resident Company for Perth’s New Performing Arts Venue, to be completed in 2010.
Black Swan's Vision
Black Swan’s vision is to engage, challenge and entertain through theatre. This interaction with theatre allows communities to sustain cultural heritage, create social bonds and open forums for dialogue.
The Black Swan Theatre Company's office and rehearsal rooms are in Nedlands with productions being performed in various theatres around Perth.
