April 17 ,1899 –April 14 ,1984 ) was born in London,Ontario ,Canada . She was a notable Canadian stage and film actress, born Jean Dawson Keenleyside.Her films include "Love at First Sight" with
Dan Aykroyd , "The Sweet and the Bitter", "The Yellow Leaf", "Nothing Personal", and "Improper Channels". She was a stalwart onCBC Radio from the 1940s to the 1960s, working with such notables asAndrew Allan ,John Drainie , andBarry Morse . Mallett's stage career includes performances with theShaw Festival of Canada and theStratford Festival of Canada .She was posthumously celebrated in
Toronto by the naming of a theatre in her honor at the St. Lawrence Centre. The Jane Mallett Theatre is a 497-seat venue, an intimate environment with superior sight lines and exceptional acoustics.
