Neath and studied atRADA . While there, he obtained his first major screen role, in "Absolute Beginners " (1986). The following year he appeared in theBBC serialisation of "My Family and Other Animals ". Since then he has seldom been off UK television screens and his first US exposure was when legendary director Robert Altman cast him as Theo in " Vincent and Theo " when he was leaving RADA . A broad range of international film and theatre credits followed . In 1995, he portrayedSimon Templar (aka "The Saint") for a series of radio plays. In 1998 he was nominated for aLaurence Olivier Theatre Award for his performance in "King Lear ". He played a sensational " Hamlet " at The Young Vic in London in 2000 for which he received several awards .He had a relationship with Australian actress
