He is best known for his roles asJohn Connor in "The Sarah Connor Chronicles " and Zach on "Heroes". He also did the singing voice ofLittlefoot in The Land Before Time V-XI.Career
Early career
Starting his acting career at age six, Dekker was first seen in the soap "
The Young and the Restless ". He then appeared in "Star Trek Generations ". Later in 1997 he became a regular on the Disney Channel Original Show ' based on the movie of the same name where he played Nick Szalinski for three years. After the show ended in 2000 he went on to appear in "Run of the House ", "Fillmore! ", ', "House", "Boston Public ", "Reba " and "7th Heaven ". He appeared in movies such as "Campus Confidential" and "". He has won threeYoung Artist Award s for his work in the "The Land Before Time" movies and one for his guest appearance on "Boston Public ".2006 onwards
In 2006 Dekker landed a recurring role on "Heroes" playing the character of Zach. This character was written to come out as gay to his parents, which would give another character the push to tell her parents about her newfound abilities, and some references were made to the character's sexuality. Dekker personally requested the series writer
Bryan Fuller change his character for fear that, having played a myriad of homosexual characters in career so far, he might be seen by casting agents as a "gay only" role. Dekker left the show after landing the role of John Connor because NBC refused to offer him a contract as a regular character. He played the character for 11 episodes before leaving the show when he won a lead role inFOX 's new show "", starring oppositeLena Headey andSummer Glau . The show debutedJanuary 13 ,2008 . Upcoming projects include the independent thriller/horror movie "From Within",Laid to Rest which he co-stars with Lena Headey and the dramaMy Sister's Keeper along sideCameron Diaz ,Abigail Breslin and Medium starSofia Vassilieva . He is also producing his own movie Whore which he wrote, directed, produced, edited and starred in. Dekker was brought up with a musical background, and started writing music at age ten while living in
Canada . At the age of fifteen he landed a record deal; however after feeling that he wasn't as involved in the music as he would have liked, he left to concentrate on making his own music. At the age of sixteen, Dekker started writing and producing his ownclassical music influenced byelectronica which he describes as "electrofolk". His' first album "Psyanotic" is complete and is currently in negotiations with record companies and he is working on a second. Some of his music is hosted on hisMySpace page. His first album "Psyanotic" has recently been released for full download and purchase on the iTunes store.Personal life
