Berlin rocket launching site

Berlin rocket launching site

Rocket Launch Site Berlin ("Raketenflugplatz Berlin") was the launch site of the Space Club ("Verein für Raumschiffahrt") in Berlin-Tegel at 52°33' N and 13°18' E.

It was installed in 1930 on the area of a gunnery range and used by the Space Club for developing and testing of rockets propelled by liquid fuel.

The rockets built were called Mirak and Repulsor. Many of them exploded, but those which did not, reached at first altitudes of approximately 100 metres, later of 4000 metres.

On 30 September 1933 Rocket Launch Site Berlin was closed, because of an unpaid water bill.
