The town of Taunustein was formed on
October 1 ,1971 from the union of former independent municipalities of Bleidenstadt, Hahn, Neuhof, Seitzenhahn, Watzhahn and Wehen. OnJuly 1 ,1972 the former independent municipalities of Hambach, Niederlibbach, Orlen und Wingsbach were also incorporated.Twin towns

SV Wehen
One of the local football clubs, located in
Wehen , is calledSV Wehen and in April 2007 they won promotion into the 2nd Tier of the German Football League (Second Bundesliga ). As such the local facilities that they used were not sufficient for professional football, they relocated toWiesbaden and become known as SV Wehen-Wiesbaden.The team is sponsored by one of the major companies of the area
