Although owned byMount Hood Community College , the station is not a part of the college's radio broadcasting educational program, and operates independently with a paid office and administrative staff; the on-air broadcasting duties are volunteers numbering over 45 unpaid announcers. The station has been providing thePortland, Oregon community with jazz, blues, and traditional American music since 1984.
