"Sisters Underground" is a New Zealand RnB and hip hop group formed in 1994.

History

Best known for their 1994 hit "In The Neighbourhood", the single spent 12 weeks in the New Zealand Top 50 Singles Chart, peaking at #6 and has more recently (as of 2000) been used on TV2 advertisements. "In The Neighbourhood" was produced by Alan Jansson, of OMC fame.

Currently, Hassanah is temporarily based in New York while Brenda resides in South Auckland, and they commute between countries for performances and recordings.

In May 2003, Diesel, the US fashion label, released a song to help promote their label and chose one of Hassanah's new songs from her album. The resulting showcase for Hassanah was at the Hammerstein ballroom and 1200 people attended. She also recently supported De La Soul in NYC.

Sisters Underground have been described as having an urban sound, unique vocal style, and combining the best of R&B, Jazz and Reggae effortlessly.
