lastupdate=March 29 ,2006 Seaquam Secondary (IPAEng|siːˈæːkwəm) is a public high school in
Delta, British Columbia part ofSchool District 37 Delta . It serves the affluent Sunshine Hills neighbourhood in North Delta. Seaquam was rated as the top secondary school Delta (64th overall in the province) by the 2004/05 Fraser Institute rankings" [http://www.fraserinstitute.ca/admin/books/chapterfiles/70BCESC06RANK.pdf Report Card on Secondary Schools in British Columbia and Yukon: 2006 Edition] ." "Fraser Institute ". April2006 .] and has held top rankings throughout the years due to a culture of support aimed at high achievement students.The school name was decided by a contest in which students and members of the community participated. The Board of School Trustees chose "Seaquam" in the end, which means 'the sun' or 'sunshine' in the
Musqueam language.The school opened on September 6, 1977 with 37 staff members and 633 students in grades 7 to 11. The number of staff was increased to 41 when one hundred more students enrolled than expected. Since then, grade 12 was added and grade 7 was dropped to meet the present 8-12 standard for high schools. It is interesting to note that a few of the original teaching staff still remain teaching in Seaquam.
The Seaquam Secondary Varsity Football Team won the BC AA High School Championships in 2006. This is the school's second BC Provincial Championship (the first coming in 2004 by the Junior Girls Volleyball team). This was followed in 2007 by a BC AA Junior Varsity Football Championship, the second BC Provincial Championship in as many years.

The Seaquam Secondary runs on a basic system like other Canadian highschools. It is based on 8 courses separated into two days. Day 1 and Day 2. The days alternate each day. For example, if Monday is a day 1 than Tuesday would have to be a day 2.Each day contains 4 blocks numbered ABCDEFGH. Day 1 contains A B C D block, while day 2 contains E F G H. Between B and C block there is a 45 min lunch break, as well as F and G block. [ [http://www.seaquam.com Seaquam Secondary] ]
