Percy Alliss (1897 – 31 March 1975) was an English professional
golf er. He is the father of commentator and former golferPeter Alliss .Alliss was born in
Sheffield . His first notable professional win came at the 1920 Welsh Professional Championship. He finished in the top six atThe Open Championship in 1928, 1929, 1931, 1932 and 1936. Ryder Cup in 1929, 1931, 1933, 1935 and 1937. His son Peter is also a golfer, golf writer and broadcaster, and played in the Ryder Cup. The Allisses were the first father and son pair to play in theRyder Cup , and so far Antonio andIgnacio Garrido are the only other.Alliss died in
