Biography

"The Chillers" were created in 1991, but have their roots in various bands spanning back to 1969. Mike Brajer and his brother Stan formed the "Brajer Brothers Blues Band". They played their way through high school until, in 1974, the two met Mike Hars. Hars soon joined the band as a singer, but his role shifted toward playing the drums. In the mid 70’s, the band changed their name to "The Plague". This band lasted for only a few more years, with many members passing through. Although in 1982, Hars and Brajer met up with two friends, Wally Van Treek and Jeff Lascko. Van Treek and Lascko joined the band, which changed its name to "The Legend". "The Legend" saw much success for the next nine years. Lascko left the band, moved to Ohio, and died January 26, 2000 of liver disease. Van Treek and Brajer concentrated on songwriting and played with a number of different people for a couple of years.

In 1991 Mike Hars, Mike Brajer, and Wally Van Treek came together and formed what is now known as "The Chillers". In 2004, The Chillers released a surf rock instrumental, "Indigo Surf", which received international airplay. In 2007, "Raw Bar", another surf rock instrumental by the band was featured in the independent horror film, "Mad Mad Margaret". Today, the band has over 100 original songs and continues to play them along with classics from other famous bands. They can be found playing at many New Jersey venues and local events.
